Outdoor UmbrellasAn outdoor umbrella should be more rugged. It should be built with a sturdy frame out of wood, aluminum, or steel. The fabric should be weather resistant, water resistant, rot resistant, and mildew resistant. The outdoor umbrella can be one of several types. It could be a market umbrella, beach umbrella, offset umbrella, or a cantilever umbrella. The beach umbrella is portable. Hence the name beach umbrella. Market, offset, and cantilever umbrellas are stationary. They are mostly used for patio and backyard gardens. Consider carefully the amount of wind the area gets. Strong winds can decimate even a well built umbrella. For example, if you live in Florida and are getting hurricanes often, then you should get the toughest umbrella you can find. On the other hand, some desert regions have mild winters and may be able to use a light weight umbrella.
