Sunbrella UmbrellaSunbrella fabric is water resistant. It can become water proof by adding a water proof guard to the material. Sunbrella material breathes and so it helps to keep it from growing mold or mildew. The only way mold or mildew will grow is if the umbrella becomes dirty with organic matter. So, make sure to keep the fabric clean. You can apply bleach and/or mildew removers because they do not hurt the fabric. You should hose down your umbrella at least once a month. More thorough cleaning will be required every 2-3 years. Sunbrella can be cleaned with Ivory Soap or Goo Gone Gone grease cutter. Sunbrella is 98% UV resistant.
